Good for you. Took you long enough but better late than never, I think.
And no I'm not driving people out of the game. I'm not playing GW anymore myself.

I play and keep playing GW because it's fun, and it has everything I would like to play in a game. Wanna go and just kill as many monsters as I want, I can do that no problem.
Wanna do missions with progressive storylines? Sure! Do random questing? Absolutely. How about PvP? I hear HA calling my name.
If I get bored of one thing, I play another aspect of GW, until I usually arrive in a full circle, wanting to really play the part of the game I found kind of boring the first time around.
Also, a major thing for me regarding playing GW is the no monthly fee. I feel like it's an utter waste of money having to keep paying to play a game you already bought at the store, not even speaking of the small breaks you give yourself from gaming for any sort of reason (like work, school, vacation, or just wanna not play anything for a week).
For instance, I would love to give a try and buy/play Aion, but it's not going to happen. Too bad, cause I love the concept of flying in that game, but NOTHING warrants a pay to play game for me.
I love playing Guild Wars, and it will be the only MMO game I'll play until GW2 comes out.

Why do I carry on playing? Well, I've only been an active player for a bit over a year so I'm still finding stuff to do, I have friends who play, friends in my guild and I'm simply still in love with the game. I complain about updates and I get pissed with ANet when my XTH Points don't come through, but it doesn't stop me playing because I still like this game. Maybe in a year or so I'll be bored and have moved on, but not now.

Because I hope for more updates like the 18/06 one, that might rejuvenate my interest for the game.

I'm not really unhappy with the game. I enjoy it actually. Its hard for me, which I like most of the time. Its big enough to where I can do something different everyday if I want. I can go to the pvp areas for a nice break from pve (RA for a speedy pvp match is about all I do beside Z training for an easy 2k factions. Or FA for fun.
The only things I'm not completely thrilled with are the lack of 7 heroes and the difficulty of soloing areas with my warrior. Although neither of those things bother me enough to make a rant thread. I'd participate in one though.
Over all, I don't let things that don't matter, get to me. If I get bored or frustrated with gw, I move on to one of the dozens of other games I play and then come back after a nice break. (last break was for over a year)
As for how I feel about Arena Net's way of handling problems or unhappy fans? They're a game provider and as such do the best they can with what they have. Can't make everyone happy all the time and a few dozen people on a forum, complaining about something isn't going to make a game provider drop their current plans to make those few select people happy.
I understand its about money. Game providers don't make and support games for charity, they do it for profit because gamers in general are addictive people who become completely absorbed with the games they like.
Point is, Guildwars is still fun for me, despite all the drama.
As for why I post on gwg about gw? I like to discuss the games I play and get advice from those who know more than me so I can get better at the game and enjoy it even more. I'm also up all night and theres nothing better to do at the moment. I'v played gw or am about to play gw or find a thread interesting enough to ramble on like I'm doing now. Besides, gwg is a cool site, for the most part.

I am a very old player of guild wars since the time of the original betas.
Have all campaigns and 6 characters who have done it all.
I have not been playing Guild Wars for the last year at all. I just log in
maybe once every two months just to see whats going on for around 10
minutes. Nowadays, I am playing Galaxy Online from IGG games.
Why did I stop? i don't know, it just happened one day when I didn't feel
like logging in. The game for me became very stale.
From the time when there was a lot of chat going on amongst players and
group formation to do quests, it came to a place where you were doing
everything in isolation with heroes. Chat became a place where spamming
was happening and elite instances became places where you did not have a
chance to get in any team if you dont have a cookie cutter build.
Builds came and builds went. In essence, the game has always remained the
same with new scenery, new items etc. being added to it. If I had to put
my finger on it, what is lacking now is the feeling of the community that
was there in the past. Every town you used to go to in the old prophecies
had mature people who were interested in talking and forming teams to do
quests etc instead of spamming or talking trash. Would you believe it that
2 of my early characters did every quest and mission with a full real team
in prophecies/factions? the ones after these finished with heroes/hench
or max with another player plus 4 heroes.
I wouldn't say that the game is bad or if its excellent. I guess that
everyone has certain tastes at a certain time period which just change
after a while. The things you used to like don't appeal to you anymore.
Kind of like music - if you listen to the same song over and over
again.....it gets to the stage that it annoys you and you skip the track
when you come to it. I guess that's what happened to me and Guild Wars.
Lets see if GW2 brings back some of the magic.
I just logged into the forums today out of a sense of nostalgia so I
thought I should contribute my two cents

Because, as an American, I believe everyone gets their opinion, and no matter how much they suck everyone gets to voice theirs. As a capitalist, I believe anet has the right to ignore those opinions.

I generally only complain because ANet is way too influenced by other complainers and usually go around wildly swinging nerf bat. Just look at what they did to the rit/para with all the cumulative nerfs that they only just recently attempted to correct due to the amount of complaining.

1. People complain cause they care.
2. People complain cause they can.
3. People complain cause they want to.
4. People complain cause it's the only thing they know how to do, i.e. habit.
Pick one.
(Mine is 1.)

If no-one complained when dissapointed, we'd be playing the worst games ever created in few years time! Gw's is an online game (with heroes, but still an online game) online gamers have access to the internet, people with access to the interweb like to moan
Q? Would you rather 100 gamers who never speak or 100 gamers who voice their opinions? The 100 gamers who voice their opinions will bring about a change in the game by letting the dev's know what they find works and what doesn't. Meanwhile the 100 silent gamers continue to play pac man...Oops my bad, one of them spoke, it's Mrs Pac Man now

Currently, I have no idea why I even bother with this game anymore.
The Lag is unbearable. I can't even play for 1 hour without DC or lag spikes every 2-3 minutes. Not to mention, there is tons of stuff that still needs fixing, but they won't even bother fixing it. Instead, they'd rather nerf this and nerf that just so you can't speed clear and solo run anymore. Good job on that one. Hey, maybe next time, something can get fixed instead of nerf after nerf. It makes the game no fun for anyone when stuff is constantly being nerfed so others can't use that skill for farming anymore. Meanwhile, those of us that actually have fun using those skills to just play the game are getting screwed over left and right cause of it. It's ridiculous.
In actuallity, the only reason I still play on occassion, is for my family. It's the only game that we actually play together. Otherwise, I'd quit. There is plenty of other games out there that I enjoy way more than this one. Used to play WoW, but WoW died long ago and is still going downhill. Let's just hope something happens soon that actually redeems Guild Wars. Otherwise, it's just another game that is going to die.

That's just not right. The OP here is one of the classic riverside people who pops into every thread negative to A-net and not only e-knights in their defense but mostly complains about or goes on the offensive against the people bringing the criticism. But in theory this is a good topic to have if he's willing to listen to responses (see more nuance than simply black & white, 'for' or 'against' anet) instead of trying to make a point with the OP (love it or leave it).

Okay, this is the 1,337th time I've said this...
There is a difference between complaining and constructive criticism. Most people on this forum do the former rather than the latter.
Having been involved in RPG's longer than most people have been alive, it's my observation that most people who drift towards these types of games are self-centered egotists. Complaining is simply a way to get attention.
If you care, as the 2nd post stated, then provide constructive criticism rather than complaining. Many here do that, but it is certainly a small minority.
